Service Manager

Zabor Automotive | Naperville, Illinois | Full-Time

Bi-weekly base pay plus a monthly commission bonus

Employer-paid health insurance 100% • Monday–Friday, never a weekend

About Zabor Automotive:

Pull into any of our shops — Rockdale (Joliet), Crest Hill, or Naperville — and you'll notice the same thing:

People who actually like working together. We're a family-owned, ASE-certified team that handles everything from daily drivers to European imports. We share tools, share laughs, share what we know, and nobody gets left fighting a stubborn diagnosis on their own. We keep things light, we keep each other honest, and we hold a high bar on every job that rolls out the door. If you do great work and want to be part of a crew instead of just another number, you'll fit right in.

We're opening our third location this fall and we're staffing it with people we intend to grow. This is a ground-floor seat at a new store, not a slot to fill.

Our mission:

To earn lifelong trust — with our customers, our employees, and our community — by delivering exceptional automotive care with honesty, transparency, and genuine respect.

What We Pay:

Base pay, every two weeks. A steady paycheck you can count on, regardless of how the month goes.
Monthly commission bonus on store gross profit. The more the store sells and the better it performs, the bigger the bonus — paid monthly, on top of your base.

Health Insurance — We Pay For It - 100%

This is the part most shops won't put in writing, so we will:

Zabor pays your health insurance premium.

Not a stipend, not a “plans available” line, not a plan you can technically enroll in and then can't afford to use. Full coverage, employer-paid.

Go read the other ads for this job. Count how many of them tell you what they actually cover. We'd rather you compare.

The Rest of the Goodies:

401(k) with company contribution.
ASE certification reimbursement — we pay for the test and you keep the credential.
9 paid holidays — plus your birthday off, paid.
Paid time off that grows with tenure: 7 days to start, 13 days at years 3–4, 20 days at 5+.
Air-conditioned shop.
Monday through Friday. Closed weekends. Every one of them. The dealerships down the road are advertising Saturdays and evenings right now. We're not.

What You'll Do:

You're the person the customer trusts, and you're the one who decides how much work the shop sells. That's the job.

Greet customers warmly and professionally — in person, by phone, text, and email.
Guide customers through their vehicle's condition and the repair decision with honesty and transparency.
Build accurate estimates: research parts pricing and labor times, and price the job so it's fair and profitable.
Make sure every vehicle gets a complete digital inspection, and present those findings with photos so the customer can see what you see.
Dispatch work, manage daily workflow, and set realistic promise times the shop can hit.
Follow up on recommended and deferred repairs — the “not today” jobs are the work you'll sell next month.
Keep accurate records in CRM.
Handle the day-to-day of running a clean store: parts ordering and returns, vendor reconciliation, payments, supplies, opening and closing.

What We're Looking For:

2+ years in a customer-facing automotive service role — advisor, writer, or service department experience.
Experience building estimates and managing shop workflow.
Familiarity with Tekmetric, ShopWare, or Mitchell a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication — you'll be explaining technical work to people who don't speak the language.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced shop.
Basic understanding of automotive systems and repair terminology.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Able to pass a background check and authorized to work in the U.S.
Able to lift 30 lbs and stay on your feet through the day.
High school diploma or equivalent; automotive training a plus.

Training happens at our Crest Hill and Joliet locations before the Naperville store, so you'll know the team and the systems before day one.

We look forward to meeting you.

Zabor Automotive is an equal opportunity employer.
